PRODUCT OVERVIEW
|
|
|
The
LAMIN-AIR compressed air muffler is designed to allow noise level
compliance to be achieved in situations where substantial air release
volumes would otherwise create unacceptable sound pollution. The Laminair
is a plastic device constructed either as a two-piece, preassembled
ABS, or multipart, preassembled PVC nozzle. Constructed of
rugged, hard-wearing materials, an installed Laminair will not
substantially wear or degrade and is assured of a long service life. |
|
Laminair
mufflers are constructed entirely from plastic, avoiding the use of
metals susceptible to corrosion or contamination. Molded either as a
single part or in two interlocking pieces, the Laminair contains no
moving parts so the nozzle is less prone to failure. The
absence in the nozzles design, of mesh filters (metal or nylon), also
reduces the likelihood of failure due to clogging from contaminants in
the air. Thus the Laminair is in fact self cleaning which extends the
effective life-span of the nozzle.
Applications
The following are a few of the OEM and retro-fit applications for which
Laminair nozzles are commonly used:
-
locomotive brake air-release lines
-
standard shop air
supply lines
-
shears,
guillotines, presses and other burst-air release based tools.
- air-hammers
Advantages
-
The
small amount of muffle-venting used, consumes less air
-
Accidental contact will not damage
the dies
-
The Laminair is designed in such a way that:
-
It
has excellent dialectic qualities
-
Is
lightweight at only 8.5 grams
-
"Dead Ended" pressure does not exceed OSHA 30 PSIG limit
-
High flow velocity affords effective parts ejection, conveying,
cleaning and chip blow-off
-
Less noise equals less worker fatigue and improved productivity
Laminair Mufflers are
available in a wide range of types for specific applications. Stock
Mufflers include:
Self Cleaning Air Mufflers
The "standard" Laminair muffler nozzle is the
self-cleaning, two-piece muffler shown above, comprising an assembled
nozzle built from two molded pieces of hard-wearing ABS,
configured according to the following cross-section.

Plastic Particle Air
Mufflers
Plastic Particle Air Laminair Mufflers are available
for a variety of special applications, built to custom dimensions, in sizes
ranging from 1/8" to 1 1/4”, NPT and BSP threads. These differ from
the standard two-piece design in that they contain filter elements in
pore sizes ranging from 1-250 microns.
Large Air Mufflers
Laminair Air Mufflers are also available for a
variety of special applications, built to custom dimensions, for
threads of 1 1/2" and above (NPT or BSP).
Custom Air Mufflers
Gadjets Inc. will work with you or your design
engineers to develop a Laminair Air Muffler for a specific
application, and produce specific quantities on a custom quotation
basis. A variety of form-factors can be accomplished to allow you to
fit your silencer within the required size and specification envelop
for any specific circuit or application. |

INSTALLATION: |
|
|
The Laminair comes fully assembled and ready for
installation. Installation is a simple matter of screwing
the NPT threaded male end of the nozzle into an available female outlet.
Installation time will usually not exceed a few seconds per-piece. |
|
|
|
LIFE-SPAN - WEAR: |
|
|
The Laminair is a passive (non-moving) part,
generally constructed of rugged, hard-wearing ABS (Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene).
During the course of normal operation, a nozzle is exposed only to air
and water-streams and inside usual shop pressures, will not
substantially wear. ABS has good chemical and stress-cracking
resistance to inorganic salt solutions, alkali's, mineral acids
(except strong oxidizing acids), and some mineral, vegetable, and
animal oils. ABS is tough and dimensionally stable but should not be
exposed to Petroleum-based oils, solvents, and paints, as they will
cause the material to craze.
